Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, announced that the organization has traded defenseman, Shawn Thompson to the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL for an undisclosed amount of cash. Thompson, who is in his first season of North American pro, played in two games for the Royals this past weekend and picked up an assist in Reading's 3-2 win over the Trenton Titans last Friday.
In a separate transaction yesterday, Larry Courville was released by the Royals. Courville, a ten year veteran who was a critical member of the Royals' organization for some two-and-a-half years, played in the Royals' 5-3 win over the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Sunday–the same day he became the first person ever inducted into the new Reading Eagle Wall of Honor at the Sovereign Center in Reading. Courville scored a short-handed empty net goal with 45 seconds remaining on Sunday to ice the victory. In a separate transaction, the Royals placed forward Jon Francisco on the thirty-day injured reserve.
