Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed goaltender Jeff Pietrasiak ("peh TRAY zee ack"). A first year pro from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, Pietrasiak (6'1"/180 lbs) started the season with Pensacola Ice Pilots, where he appeared in four games, going 0-2-0 with a 3.20 goals against average and a .878 save percentage. Pietrasiak's games with Pensacola included a 5-3 loss to the Royals on October 22, 2006, when he stopped 25 of the 29 shots he faced. A sixth round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Pietrasiak (23) had a stellar four year career at the University of New Hampshire where he compiled a combined record of 27-13-6, while helping the Wildcats qualify for four consecutive trips to the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship Tournament. It is expected that Pietrasiak will be in uniform for the Royals when they take on the Johnstown Chiefs at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena on Saturday night.
