by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings

ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, announced that high-scoring left winger Jordan Morrison has re-signed with the team for the 2011-12 season.

Morrison, 25, led the Reign offense last season with 35 assists and 55 points in 71 games. He was also second in goals with 20. Morrison had several multi-point games including a four-point effort (2g, 2a) in a 6-5 overtime win against the Elmira Jackals. The Uxbridge, Ontario native finished the 2010-11 season with a five-game point streak (4g, 3a) which he’ll now have the opportunity to extend in a Reign sweater when the season opens in October.

Morrison split ice time between the Florida Everblades, Johnstown Chiefs, and Wheeling Nailers (all of the ECHL) over the 2009-10 season. He accumulated a total of 32 points (11G, 21A) in 65 games with the three teams.

In his 2008-09 rookie season with the Wheeling Nailers, Morrison was second in team scoring and eighth overall in league scoring with 74 points (26G, 48A) in 63 games. He was named to the 2008-09 ECHL All-Rookie Team and finished second in Rookie of the Year balloting to teammate Bryan Ewing. He also played seven games in the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (#222 overall), Morrison played two seasons with Dalhousie University in Canada and was a member of the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League for four years.
