Reign Lose to Steelheads, 2-1 in Overtime

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings
BOISE, Idaho – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to the Idaho Steelheads before 3,261 at Qwest Arena Tuesday night.

James McEwan got the scoring started at 4:23 of the first period with his first goal of the season.  Steelhead goaltender, Tyler Beskorowany, misplayed the puck behind his net and McEwan tapped Aaron Lewadniuk’s pass into a wide-open cage.  The Steelheads tied it on a goal by Geoff Irwin at 18:03.

The first-period goals held up through regulation and the game went to overtime.  Mike Zacharias made several brilliant saves, including a point-blank stop on Marty Flichel, but Aki Seitsonen finally got one by him to win it with just five seconds left in the extra frame.
Zacharias made 33 saves while Beskorowany turned aside 21.

Tonight’s three stars were:

1) IDH – Aki Seitsonen
2) IDH – Geoff Irwin
3) ONT – Mike Zacharias
