LAS VEGAS, NV – The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, beat the Las Vegas Wranglers 2-1 before 4,023 at Orleans Arena Friday night. Beau Erickson made 28 saves and Dusty Collins netted his second game-winning goal in as many games to lead the way.
The game almost reached the half-way point before Shawn Collymore opened the scoring on a broken play in front of the Wranglers’ net. The puck floated slowly through traffic in the slot and appeared headed for the corner when Collymore nabbed it and whistled a wrist shot past Joe Fallon for a 1-0 Reign lead.
Las Vegas and Ontario traded goals 37 seconds apart while the Reign had the man advantage. Las Vegas forward Greg Collins tied it 1-1 for the Wranglers with a short-handed goal, before Dusty Collins took the lead back for the Reign with a power-play tally. Alex Bourret peeled off the half boards and slid the puck to Dusty Collins on the right side of the net, who spun into the slot on his backhand then fired a forehand-shot over the blocker of Fallon to go ahead 2-1.
Las Vegas had a chance to tie it mid-way through the third period, but Erickson turned aside a breakaway bid by Blake Gallagher with a sliding pad save.
Erickson earned his second consecutive win while Fallon took the loss.
