Jonathan Quick has been named the NHL’s First Star of the Week.
Quick, in four starts, posted a 4-0-0 record with a .968 SV% and a 1.00 GAA. He recorded his third shutout of the season on Monday, stopping all 27 shots he faced in the Kings’ 5-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks. With that shutout, he tied John Vanbiesbrouck and Frank Brimsek for the most shutouts by a U.S.-born goaltender in NHL history.
With 22 wins in his 32 starts this season, Quick ranks second among NHL goaltenders in that category. Quick has won five straight games and has posted a 12-2-0 record in his last 14 starts.
Quick will likely return to action tonight when the Kings take on the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center, where the puck is scheduled to drop just after 6:00 PM PST. In 19 career starts against Colorado, Quick is 13-4-1.
