The NHL announced today that Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick
has been named the league’s third star of the week; Washington’s Evgeny Kuznetsov and Montreal’s Andrei Markov earned the award's top two spots.
Quick, in two starts during the week, posted a 2-0-0 record, making a combined 66 saves to register a .971 SV% and a 1.00 GAA.
Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes at STAPLES Center, Quick was perfect, pitching a 40-save shutout as the Kings bested the Hurricanes 3-0. In 10 career games where he has faced 40 or more shots, Quick has never once lost in regulation – he now has a 8-0-2 record in those situations.
Sunday evening in Edmonton, Quick was a tremendous factor in the Kings’ winning their fifth-straight game, making 26 saves, including an incredible, yet controversial one on Connor McDavid in the final seconds of play.
Since dropping his first three starts of the season, Quick has answered with four consecutive wins, a stalwart .966 SV% and a remarkable 0.99 GAA.
