This week’s highlighted prospect is Los Angeles Kings 2008 First Round Draft Pick, 18 year-old Colten Teubert, currently playing for the Regina Pats of the WHL. Teubert tallied two goals, two assists, and was plus seven in the Pats’ last four games, two on home ice and two road games. Both of Teubert’s goals came during Regina’s Oct. 29 7-3 win over the Red Deer Rebels, when the young defenseman scored the tying goal and the sixth of seven. Regina is currently tied for first place in the East Division with 26 points (11-5-4=26).

“I was out there last week in Regina, and I got to practice with Colten and skate with him ” said Nelson Emerson, Los Angeles Kings Coordinator of Player Development. “He is doing everything that we would have wanted him to do. He is skating really well, shooting the puck a lot and playing very much under control. The biggest thing about Colten right now is that you see he is a leader on that team, and everybody looks up to him. His teammates watch what he does in practice, they see how he handles himself during games and off the ice and he is doing everything that we asked him to do.”

Teubert was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1st Round (13th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. The 6’4”, 187-pound Defenseman had 135 penalty minutes for the Pats last season and 23 points in 66 games (7-16=23). Hailing from Whiterock, B.C., Teubert represented Team Canada as an alternate captain for the 2008 World Junior Under-18 Championships held in Russia.

“His number one strength is the fact that he is a very competitive player. He is a team leader, and he always makes sure that he always put the team first. You see a lot of energy in his game. The greatest thing about him is that he is a complete package- he is able to play physical and offensive.

"He still needs to work on keeping his game under control and keeping himself in the proper position, but he is having a tremendous year and we are very excited about his potential. “
