PREVIEW: Nostalgia and Sympathy for the Devils

LA Kings find themselves out of the playoff picture as losing streak persists

by Jesse Cohen @KingsMenPodcast /

The LA Kings enter tonight's game against the New Jersey Devils in the midst of a four-game losing streak.

Not ideal.

Because of that skid, the Kings find themselves out of the playoffs for the time being, tied for 10th place in the Western Conference.

Even less ideal.

Instead of dwelling on the existing troubles, I took a cue from the NHL and fired up the old nostalgia machine.

With the All-Star Game set to kick off the 100th Anniversary of the NHL this weekend, let's take a look back at the 2012 run the Kings took through the playoffs which culminated with a showdown against the Devils.

Maybe this little trip down memory lane and a date with the Devils is what the Kings need turn around their fortunes around.
