(Re lack of scoring):  “It’s very tough.  We’re losing games because of the lack of scoring.  We’re looking at one-goal games every night.  I really liked the opportunities we had in the third period to give ourselves a chance to tie the game up.  That’s kind of been the story of our offense here in the last while.  The guys are working, we killed off a lot of good penalties, it was a great effort on that part of it.  The power play let us down though.  We’re just not getting anything generated on the power play.  Five-on-five, I liked their play.  There was lots of work, a lot of compete, and lots of scoring chances.  We had to get a short-handed goal to get us going but we have to find a way to finish on those golden opportunities.”
(Re finishing the game): “It’s getting pucks back to the net a little bit faster.  Sometimes when loose pucks rebound, if you try to make one move that’s going to pull the puck to your forehand or stickhandle, it’s already too late.  You just have to continue to put pucks back to the net.  I thought on the luck that [Brad] Richardson had there in the third period, if he had just thrown it right back immediately he would have caught the goalie out of position.”
(Re goalies): “I hope they’re able to deal with it.  Their job is to stop the puck.  We gave up 27 shots or so here tonight and their job is to stop the puck and hopefully we can take care of the business at the other end.  Two goals tonight where one on the power play, which I didn’t like.  We got beat inside.  Our defenseman got beat on the inside on net and that’s a no no.  You can’t give up that kind of play at your net off that read.  The goalies, I hope they’re dealing with it fine and it looks like they are.  They’re competing and battling and they come the next day to be ready to work again.  We just have to get things taken care of on the offensive side.”
(Re game recap): “We have to be more desperate right now, we have to be more desperate the rest of the year. We aren’t playing with enough intensity or enough desperation. We are a good team and now we are not playing like one. We need more desperation and more intensity and that starts with individuals. We can’t do it alone, I don’t mean that, but you have to get yourself ready as a player on this team. Right now we don’t have enough guys having that desperation that we need. Look around us. I think we have what it takes in this room regardless who is in or out of the lineup. It’s up to the guys in here. This is our team.”
(Re penalties): “I don’t know what the penalties were. I know we took a couple of high-stickings. There are going to be penalties in the game, but I think we need to limit our penalties in the offensive zone; those are needless penalties and I think we took quite a few of those tonight.”
(Re penalties): “I thought we had a great start to the game in the first five or six minutes, but any time you go to the box it kills your momentum. We were rolling lines, rolling D, and things were going pretty well but when you take penalties you get out of that rhythm; everyone gets out of the rhythm.”
(Re upcoming road trip): “[The road trip games mean] the same thing as this home one. Let’s get some wins. We are at the point where let’s not care and maybe our goalie needs to steal one for us, maybe [we need] just a little momentum. You’d like to see your efforts pay off. I think we do a lot of things right, we are just not scoring a couple of goals.”
(Re shake-up): “I like to think and I truly believe that the answer is in here. I’m very, very optimistic that we are going to come out of this. I know it has been a tough stretch and no one is denying that. But I truly believe that the answer is in here. As far as if they think a shake-up is necessary, that is out of our hands.”
(Re game recap): “I thought our power play struggled mightily there in the beginning. It wasn’t actually in the zone, we didn’t win any faceoffs and then we couldn’t get in, and then we changed our breakout a little bit and got in. I thought the last two or three power plays generated chances and shots but just nothing went in. It’s a thing that if we can get that thing going we’d save ourselves some energy…That fourth line played well…We have to utilize everybody. If you look at teams like Minnesota and everybody they’re doing the same thing. We have to utilize that and guys have to embrace that. That’s the sell for us.”
(Re goaltender Richard Bachman): “He’s a competitive guy and he’s pretty clean when it comes to rebounds and I thought he had a real good start for us…He looked like himself. I just told him when he went out there it’s the same game that you’ve been playing. He has that ability…He’s going through the natural progression. He’s a good goaltender…He deserves another start and most likely against the Rangers we’ll give him that opportunity and see if he can run with it.”

(Re starting tonight): “I got a phone call last night just after dinnertime just letting me know what the plan was for today…You always dream about getting that first win and it was a dream come true tonight.”
(Re limiting rebounds): “That’s what I try and do. It really helps the D[efense] out, and helps me out, to know where the puck is going to be is so much easier and a lot cleaner that way. The rebounds I did have, the D[efense] did an awesome job for me tonight.”
(Re goal tonight): “I had a few games there that was a tough stretch…it kind of gave me some confidence…It was a lucky goal but why not take it.”
(Re goaltender Richard Bachman): “He looked pretty calm back there for his first real start…He really played a great game and got a big two points for us…He prepared well tonight and played a great game.”
