(Re on what he said to his team after the game): “Well some of the players were talking to themselves in there before I went in, and they were just talking about the game.  You guys saw the game when we come out in the second period, after a pretty good start in the first, and we went away totally from everything that was going the right way.  Turning the pucks over in the neutral zone, not getting it in, not skating the right way, and our pursuit of the puck whenever it did get in was not there with enough support to recover pucks.”

(Re on what he thinks his team needs to do right now to get back on track): “We’re going to have to score some goals.  We’re going to have to be better on the fundamental part of the game...In this game it’s 60 minutes, it doesn’t matter who you playing.  And we’re breaking down in the detail part of the game.  Everything has to be refocused on and everything has to become very important throughout the 60 minutes.”

(Re game recap): “Well, we start off in the first period and get away from our game.  We played desperate the last nine minutes of the game trying to get back in it but it’s hard to.  We’ve got to play a full 60, and like I said tonight, we started good and then we get away from things that make us successful.”

(Re his team sustaining early leads): “Well, I’d have an answer if I did, and we wouldn’t be doing it.  It’s something that needs to be changed…that’s all it is, an attitude really and playing the game right.”

(Re the two quick goals Toronto scored in the second): “You try to fight it but it’s tough whenever you’re…leading the period but you said 40 seconds [and] now we’re down.  And it’s tough to play from behind in this league.  You have to take chances, you’re going to give up chances the other way when you have to take chances.”

(Re if it’s difficult playing a team they don’t see too often): “When you’re playing a team you don’t see a lot, you try to focus more on the things you have to do.  I thought we did a good job of that in the first period, and I thought we did a pretty good job of that in the last 15 minutes.  But it’s not enough.”

(Re Reimer performance): “He was outstanding all night.  Every time we needed a whistle, he’s cool and calm, doesn’t give up very many rebounds. Like I said, coolly and calmly settles stuff down when the other team is all over us.  He did a great job.”

(Re going for 600th win in San Jose): “I have 599, so somewhere along the line I’ll get another win, but tomorrow night…the hockey gods are being a little bit ironic here.”

(Re Luke Schenn): “You’re seeing two of a great class of defensemen, Drew Doughty and Luke out there, they’re both the same age and they play the most minutes.  It’s unbelievable.”

(Re four out of five run): “It is a little bit of the ebb and flow, we’ve had great goaltending, we’re healthy, almost as best we can be with the exception of Giggy [Jean-Sebastien Giguere] and Brownie [Mike Brown] but other guys have filled in really well.  We’ve got balanced scoring now.  We’ve got everyone on the three lines clicking and I think that’s huge.”

(Re game recap): “They came hard.  They had a lot of pressure, dumping pucks in, and going after it.  Kudos to the guys again, they battled hard, and worked hard on the corners and on the boards and blocking shots.  They did a heck of a job.”

“I feel pretty comfortable out there, but I mean they’re good players and a good team and you always have to give them credit, give them respect and so I just tried to shut everything out of my mind and focus on the puck.”

(Re last period): “It was tough, in the last period of the game the team that’s down is always going to push hard, especially when they have an extra man or extra two men in this case.  Again I just tried to take it shot by shot, tried not to look at the clock and just focus on the puck.”

(Re Giguere): “Giguere’s the guy and he’s a heck of a goalie.  I know my role, and that’s just when called upon just to make saves and help the team win and nothing more.  So when he comes back I’ll most likely obviously go down and I’ll just keep doing the same thing and getting better and hopefully get another chance.”
