  • Kyle Clifford (1-1=2) tonight earned his second multi-point game of the season (second of his career in the regular season)
  • Colin Fraser (2a) tonight earned his first multi-point game since Nov. 12, 2010
  • Justin Williams extended his point streak to eight games (3-7=10) – His career longest point streak is 11 games (last season)
  • Jack Johnson scored his eighth goal of the season (five of which have come on the power play)
  • Drew Doughty (2a) tonight now has 13 points in the last 18 games (1-12=13)
  • Willie Mitchell has three points in the last four games (1-2=3)
  • The Kings have now earned points in 16 of their last 18 games (10-2-6) – 26 out of a possible 36 points = .722 pts pct
  • The Kings have now earned points in seven of their last eight games (4-1-3) – 11 out of a possible 16 points = .688 pts pct
  • The Kings are now 13-0-1 when scoring three-plus goals in a game
  • The Kings are now 16-for-50 all-time on penalty shots (Trevor Lewis scored on his first career penalty shot tonight)
  • The Kings are now 17-5-2 when scoring a power-play goal in a game
(Re game recap): “Probably half our shots came from our defense. Our power play scored a big goal in the second and then penalty shot goal…I thought emotionally our second period was a strong period…I was trying to get us to emotionally draw something out of tonight.”
(Re Lewis): “It was good to see him score. I asked on the bench who should take that, because it’s got to be somebody on the ice, and both Mike Richards and [Dustin Brown] turned around and said [Lewis]. After the fact it’s easy to say you picked the right guy but he’s had three shootout chances and he’s made good moves on all of them so it’s good to see him score.”
(Re Quick fatigue  with All-Star game): “We’re done two days before most teams so he’s going to get three out and he doesn’t get back here until Monday after the game, so he’ll miss a day of practice. He’s actually going to get a pretty god break in the whole thing when you look at it. He’s going to get to enjoy the weekend there and there’s six goalies so they don’t get a lot of work.”
(Re game recap): “It’s a big win. Obviously we got going there at the start and guys had a lot of energy coming off two losses so we definitely wanted to get ‘er done tonight.”
(Re home win): “It’s huge but I think we are really good on the road. We got the win tonight but we’re going to keep moving forward and looking in the right direction.”
(Re fight with Konopka): “I fought him last year once.”
(Re All-Star break): “It’s great for our team. We got a lot of confidence here and we’ve got a good group of guys so coming off a win, going into the break, none of these guys are going to be relaxed. We’re going to keep focused here and we’re going to take a little bit of downtime here, but when we come back on Monday (Jan 30th) we’re going to come right back to work.”
(Re chemistry on line): “We all kind of play the same way. We’re real simple and we just get pucks in deep and get some hits going and that gets energy for our team and creates energy for ourselves too.”
(Re Gordie Howe hat-trick): “First one. Westgarth and I had a bet that whoever got the first one gets a porterhouse steak.”
(Re goal support): “It’s going to happen throughout the season. You’re going to go through ups and downs like that and have a couple games where you don’t put up many and then you’re going to score in bunches. We’ve been getting points consistently in the past 15 games, so that’s a plus and we’re looking to carry that into the back end (of the season).”
(Re playing as if game it tied): “No matter what the score is you always play like you have to make the next save. Being a professional, you could be up 6-0, down 6-0, whatever it is you always have to play 100%. You can’t expect the fans to get behind you if you start taking shifts off or periods off or shots off if you’re a goalie. You got to play for your teammates and play for your fans whatever the score happens to be.”
(Re All-Star game appearance): “I don’t know how hard I’m supposed to play, you know? We’ll see how it goes. I think if I keep it in single digits it’ll be a plus. This is something you don’t get to do every year and it’s something that’s great to be a part of. I’m looking forward to it.”

(Re game recap): “I thought  [the physical aspect] of the game was fine. Obviously the score wasn’t very good and I thought that they did a better job of getting to our net than we did getting to their net. We had some opportunities in there as well but they got the big win tonight.

(Re penalties): “I think at the end of the night they are all going to be even. The penalties are penalties and we took penalties. You can’t take penalties and continue to have success killing them off, especially on three penalties. We have to do better and obviously if we skate better we take fewer penalties.”

(Re penalty shot): “I thought it was a big part of the hockey game. We get the benefit of replay and it shouldn’t have been a penalty shot. We get the benefit of replay one and two and three times. I’m not sure if it’s reviewable in Toronto on that kind of a call but that’s just the way it is. I think having video means to get it right, so if it’s not right it should be [reviewed]. That’s why you have video, to me.”

(Re Kings physical play): “We were prepared for it. We knew they were going to come out. They lead the league in the amount of finished [hits] and we had to be prepared for that. We sat in the box too much tonight and they capitalized there. It got away from us.”
(Re penalty shot): “Their explanation was that I did cover [the puck]. I was upset because I thought I went in and swiped it, which I think it looks like that’s what happened. It’s frustrating when you are struggling in the game and then you get some calls against you that have to try and not let affect you and the team. It’s tough—emotions run high and sometimes get the best of you. I think that was a little bit of the case tonight as well.”

(Re team performance): “The work ethic was there. Maybe we got a decent number of shots on net but we aren’t going to score too many goals from the outside, we have to do a better job of getting to the net and trying to get the rebounds.”
The Kings will not hold a formal on-ice practice until Monday at 2 p.m. at the Toyota Sports Center
