(Re game recap): “The game was good. We got the two points that we wanted to get. I thought we played a good game. I liked our third period. We lost a top player but the attitude was good. We kept the game simple and ended up getting a couple goals and we finished off with the right attitude.”

(Re Kopitar): “It’s a broken ankle and he’ll be out a minimum of six weeks.”

“He’s your top player, your top forward so there’s quite a hole that’s going to be there with him out of the lineup for this length of time. I’ve dealt with this before with top guys being out with injuries and it’s an opportunity for other players to step up, the character of the team needs to step up and everyone needs to start doing the right things. You’ve got to trust your structure and your system and give it the best opportunity you can as a group to finish games off and play the right way.”

(Re game recap): “I thought we started this game very well, weathered the stormed the second and closed it out in the third.  We need to find a way to keep it simple against teams like this.  If we play a tight game over the course of the game then we’re going to win it because they’re going to be taking a lot more chances than we are. It’s really about limiting our mistakes.”

(Re Kopitar): “He’s our best player.  We have to find a way either way…you don’t want have your best player go down but if that’s the case, we need to fill the responsibility collectively and find a way because no other team is going to feel sorry for us.”

“We have our top two scores possibly out, I don’t know the severity of the injuries but that’s part of the 82-game schedule, and at the end of the day we have find a way to keep going as a team.”

(Re goal): “ It’s a relief, It’s nice to contribute and feel a part for sure.  It’s a matter of being in the right positions and don’t ride your highs too high or your lows too low and you have stay an even keel, I thought it was a tough stretch but it’s nice to contribute.”

(Re Kopitar):“Not one guy can replace a guy like Kopitar.  Everybody has to collectively come together and regroup…everybody has got to fill a good role and it’s all about opportunity.”

(Re game vs Edmonton on Tuesday): “They’re going to compete hard, and it’s going to be a tough task.  You can’t take any team lightly, especially at this time in the year.  You have to make sure that you’re maintaining our system and our play and continue forward.”

(Re Milan Hejduk):  “It’s consistency there’s no question.  We talked about that before, he’s a guy that is very dependable and you know what you’re going to get out of Milan [Hejduk] just about every night.  That’s why he’s been the professional that he’s been and had the career that he’s had so far.  Obviously he’s getting up there a little bit, but you always know what you’re going to get from Hedgy and today he was able to kind of break the seal and score again.  It’s been a while for him, he’s been a little bit snake-bitten so hopefully he can continue that and carry over and out on this stretch for us.”

(Re defensemen): “Yeah, we had another new guy in there with Shawn Belle and Cameron Gaunce is obviously still up here.  I thought the game was pretty even overall.  I thought it was a well-played game.  I think that their goaltender deserves a lot of credit.  He played very well.  We had some real good opportunities and he did a good job of smothering second and third opportunities.  I think that he deserves a lot of credit.  I told the guys again that I was very pleased with their effort for the most part.  Losing is obviously losing and we’re not going to accept that but I did think that we had most hands-on-deck tonight.  The guys were ready to play this afternoon.”

No scheduled practice – day off
