Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday LAKings.com will countdown the Top 15 moments from the LA Kings improbable run to their 2nd Stanley Cup Championship.
Tempers flared in the late stages of Game 6 in the Kings’ Western Conference Final series against the Chicago Blackhawks. The situation almost escalated into something we rarely see in hockey, and something that’s just so riveting.
A goalie fight.
As time expired in the second period on May 30 at STAPLES Center, Chicago’s Andrew Shaw barreled into Jonathan Quick, sending the Kings’ goaltender flying into his own net. A heated scrum ensued in Quick’s crease. After taking a few innocent jabs at Shaw, Quick fled the scene and made his way back to the Kings’ bench.
Corey Crawford was waiting, and that’s when things got really testy. Quick, noticing Crawford wanted his attention, well, simply gave it to him.
Sometimes the entertainment made it’s way off the ice for the Kings during the postseason; and, in the opponent’s territory.
During their Western Conference Semifinal series against the Anaheim Ducks, a pair of billboards popped near the LA-OC border, one of them along the I-5 South.
Prior to Game 1 of the Kings’ Stanley Cup Final series against the New York Rangers, a digital billboard popped up just outside Madison Square Garden.
Chicago tried, but it didn’t pan out so well.
