Oscar-Fantenberg-signs-LA-Kings

The LA Kings have signed defenseman Oscar Fantenberg to a one-year entry-level contract, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today.
The 25-year-old Fantenberg (born on Oct. 7, 1991) is a 6-0, 203-pound native of Ljungby, Sweden, who appeared in 44 games last season with HK Sochi (Kontinental Hockey League). In his first season in the KHL, he posted 23 points (3-20=23) and 22 penalty minutes.

Prior to his season in the KHL, he appeared in 216 regular-season games in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) with Frolunda HC and HV71, posting 61 points (14-47=61), a plus-27 rating and 84 penalty minutes. He served as an assistant captain during his final season with HV71 (2013-14) and also as an assistant captain during his last season with Frolunda HC (2015-16).
Fantenberg appeared in 39 postseason games during his time in the SHL, posting 17 points (2-15=17), a plus-12 rating and 28 penalty minutes. He finished his SHL career by capturing the championship during the 2015-16 campaign with Frolunda HC, including two assists in the series clinching game.
He represented Sweden at the World Junior Championship in 2010 and during Euro Hockey Tour tournaments in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
