QUOTES

KINGS HEAD COACH TERRY MURRAY:
(Re: game recap)
“It was great to see the effort in the third period. I thought the second we probably dipped a little bit with the intensity and battles on the boards. They didn’t come up with several plays that went from high to low and ended up being in our net”

(Re: Handzus’ game-winning goal)
“He recognized it was a forward on defense. He held onto the puck with lots of composure and made a great shot.”

(Re: Quincey’s play):
“I thought he played very well. He showed a great deal of composure in a lot of pressure situations. He made nice little five to six foot plays coming out of his own zone. That’s veteran play and he is 23 years old.”

KINGS FORWARD MICHAL HANDZUS:
(Re: Penalty Kills):
“I think we have a great team and we are working hard, but the key is to outwork the five guys who play against you.”

(Re: Tonight’s second period and Carolina’s three consecutive goals):
“We know the Hurricanes are a fast team and they play offensively. When we stopped skating in the second period we got in a big hole, but we came back.”

(Re: Handzus return after knee surgery and tonight’s performance):
“I am more patient this year and more confident and stronger. I don’t think about last year. This is a new season.”

HURRICANES HEAD COACH PETER LAVIOLETTE:
(Re: game recap):
“We talked about coming out strong and on our toes in the third period and we didn’t. We were sitting back a little bit too much. They evened it up and we flattened out again. We had an opportunity and didn’t bury it and they had an opportunity and buried it”.

HURRICANES CENTER BRANDON SUTTER:
(Re: game recap):
“We came out better tonight than in the first three games. Third period we set back and let them get back in the game. For most of the game we outplayed them. I don’t think we competed enough to win the third”.
