NHL / NORTH AMERICAN ROLLER HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings
OVERVIEW

The NHL and NARCh entered into a partnership in 2004-05, creating a multi-tiered relationship that forms the largest grassroots roller hockey initiative across North America. This relationship enables NHL Member Clubs to access the vibrant roller hockey community through local / regional NARCh events and activities during their annual Tour schedule

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
NARCh's annual tournament schedule launches with the invitational Winternationals in January, and operates over 25 regional tournaments from March – June, culminating with the NARCh Finals in July. The NARCh Finals is the largest roller hockey championship in the world, featuring approximately 400 teams competing for titles in the silver, gold and platinum divisions

EVENT PARTICIPATION
Annually, NARCh tournaments feature more than 11,000 roller hockey players on 900 plus teams competing in amateur divisions ranging from ages 6 and under to 35 and over.

NHL JR. ALL STARS
The NARCh regional tournaments feature a joint element, the NHL Junior All Stars, an all-tournament team selected from each age division based on outstanding play during the regional competition. Over the course of the regional tournaments, 900 NHL Junior All Stars will be selected for the honor and qualify for the NHL Junior All Stars Sweepstakes, where one select player will win a trip to the 2008 NHL All Star game.

Winners will be showcased on NHL.com, and NARCh.com, as well as other common inventory. NHL Member Clubs are encouraged to showcase their local NHL Jr. All Star winners as well.

NHL MEMBER CLUB OPPORTUNITIES
Member Clubs are encouraged to leverage 2007 NARCh tournaments to reach a strong hockey oriented community. Through the NHL / NARCh relationship, NHL Member Clubs are invited to have a presence at regional events, facilitating sales, marketing and promotion efforts. Areas of assistance include:

  • Player appearances for autograph and picture signing
  • Booth at the event or interactive blow-up
  • Team memorabilia, such as signed sticks or autographs to raffle out
  • Any type of giveaways, such as mugs, hats, game tickets, etc
  • NARCh logo / link on Club website with local market information
  • Club ticket sales opportunities

NEXT STEPS
We hope you will take the opportunity to leverage these events to reach a very important demographic - the roller hockey community - during the local promotion and programming window. Member Clubs that are interested in participating should contact Suzanne Sherman at (212) 789-2008 or ssherman@nhl.com.
