MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have assigned defenseman Patrick Mullen to the ECHL’s Ontario Reign, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced Tuesday.
Mullen, 23, has recorded eight points (3-5=8) and 14 penalty minutes in 36 games during his rookie season. The 6-foot, 181-pound native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania picked up his first point, an assist, in his pro debut as the Monarchs topped the Albany River Rats, 6-3, on October 3, 2009. His first goal came on November 27, 2009 in a 4-2 win over the Springfield Falcons.
Prior to turning pro, Mullen played four years at the University of Denver. From 2005-09, Mullen registered 81 points (20-61=81) and 148 penalty minutes in 152 games in which he split time as a forward and defenseman.
