MONARCHS RELEASE 2006-07 SCHEDULE

MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings, will open the 2006-07 season with three home games, the AHL and the Monarchs announced on Wednesday.

The Monarchs will open their sixth AHL season against the Worcester Sharks at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, October 7 at 7:35 p.m., followed by the Providence Bruins on Saturday, October 14 at 7:35 p.m. and ending the three-game home stand versus the Portland Pirates on Sunday, October 15 at 4:05 p.m.

The Monarchs unbalanced 80-game schedule includes 40 games at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. The Monarchs will meet 11 of their Eastern Conference rivals as well as four Western Conference foes during the 2006-07 season. Fifty-eight of the Monarchs 80 games (73-percent of the schedule) will be played against teams in the Atlantic Division, which includes the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Lowell Devils, the Springfield Falcons, the Pirates, the Bruins and the Sharks. The Monarchs will play Portland 12 times (six home and six road), Lowell, Springfield and Worcester 10 times (five home and five road games) and Hartford and Providence eight times (four home and four road games).

The Monarchs will also face five teams in the Eastern Conference's East Division, the Albany River Rats, the Binghamton Senators, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Hershey Bears and the Norfolk Admirals. The Monarchs will play Norfolk four times (two home and two road games) and Albany, Binghamton, Bridgeport and Hershey twice (one home and one road game).

Manchester's Western Conference opponents include the Rochester Americans and the Toronto Marlies from the North Division and the Houston Aeros and the San Antonio Rampage from the West Division. The Monarchs will play Toronto four times (two home and two road games) and Houston, Rochester and San Antonio each twice (one home and one road game).
