Monarchs Announce 2010 Schedule

MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, will open the 2010-11 season on the road versus the Portland Pirates on Saturday, October 9 at the Cumberland Country Civic Center and then the team will open their home schedule against the Providence Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, October 16, the AHL and the Monarchs announced on Wednesday. Individual tickets for the 2010-11 season will go on sale to the public on Monday, September 20 at 9:30 a.m. and can be purchased by logging onto www.manchestermonarchs.com, by visiting the Verizon Wireless Arena Box Office or through Ticketmaster.


Monarchs Schedule

The Monarchs will open their celebratory 10th season with two road games against the Pirates on Saturday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Sunday, October 10 at 3:00 p.m. The home season will open with a 7:00 p.m. contest against the Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, October 16. Manchester will hold their first Monarchs School Day game on Wednesday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. against the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Monarchs will also host the Bruins in their traditional New Year’s Eve celebration on Friday, December 31 at 7:00 p.m.

The start times for all Monarchs home games Monday through Saturday for the 2010-11 season will be 7:00 p.m. The puck will drop at 3:00 p.m. for home games on Sundays this season.

The Monarchs 80-game schedule includes 40 games at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. The Monarchs will meet 12 of their 14 Eastern Conference rivals during the 2010-11 season. Manchester will play 64 of the 80-game season against teams in the Atlantic Division, which includes the Springfield Falcons, Worcester Sharks, Bridgeport, Hartford, Portland and Providence. The Monarchs will play Bridgeport, Portland and Worcester 12 times (six home and six road games), Providence and Springfield 10 times (five home and five road games) and Hartford eight times (four home and four road games).

The Monarchs remaining 16 games of the season will be played against teams in the Eastern Conference’s East Division including the newly formed Charlotte Checkers. In addition to Charlotte, Manchester will play the Adirondack Phantoms, Albany Devils, Binghamton Senators, Hershey Bears and Norfolk Admirals in the East Division. The Monarchs will play Charlotte and Norfolk four times (two home and two road games) and Adirondack, Albany, Binghamton and Hershey twice (one home and one road game).
