Kenora, Ontario -- Mike Richards 2nd Annual Charity Golf event presented by RBC, took place on Thursday, July 14 and raised over $40,000 which benefited the Canadian Cancer Society and the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation.

On Wednesday, August 3, Richards and RBC Branch Manager, Kathleen Novak, made the check presentation to both recipients.  (pictured left to right) Novak, Richards, Meg Cameron (Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation Board Member), Randy Seller (Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation Vice President), Diane Pochailo (Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation Board Member).

"I would like to thank all the sponsors, specifically RBC, friends and family who came out to support my event this summer. The results far exceeded my expectations and for that I am truly grateful," said Richards. "I feel very fortunate to be able to give back to my community which continues to support me and my career."

In addition to the amount raised by the golf event, RBC donated a further $1,000 to the Regional Community Foundation in recognition of the efforts of the local RBC Branch in supporting Mike’s tournament.

"As one of Canada's leading corporate citizens, RBC is involved with a wide range of causes in communities across the country and Mike's tournament was no exception. We believe that it is our responsibility not only to strengthen the communities in which we work and live, but also to strengthen the spirit of the community itself.  The Kenora RBC team is very proud to have partnered with Mike and his committee to raise these funds and we look forward to being involved again next year," said Novak.

"The amount raised was, in part, due to the unsolicited support of many contributors, such as caterer Ben Shewfelt, owner of the Hogline Cafe, who graciously provided discount services and Rob Dokuchie of Overdrive Design Labs who donated graphic and printing services.
These are just two examples of the generosity shown by many participants, sponsors and volunteers, all of whom made the event so successful," according to John Barr, Event Coordinator.
