by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings

The LA Kings have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent center Michael Latta on a one-year contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

The 25-year-old Latta (born May 25, 1991) is a 6-0, 207-pound native of Kitchener, Ontario, who appeared in 43 regular season games with Washington last season (3-4=7, 50 PIM, 51.5 FOW%).

Originally a third-round selection (72nd overall) by Nashville at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Latta has played three seasons in the NHL – all with the Capitals. In 113 career regular season games he has 17 points (4-13=17), a +4 rating and 130 penalty minutes. He made his Capitals/NHL debut on October 1, 2013, at Chicago, and he scored his first NHL goal at Detroit on November 15, 2013.

Latta made his pro debut with the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) during the 2010-11 season. Prior to that, he played with both Guelph (2008-11) and Ottawa (2007-09) of the Ontario Hockey League.
