Defenseman Jeff Schultz could draw into the Kings lineup for tonight’s Game 2 at Anaheim (puck drops at 7:15 p.m. at Honda Center – Kings Radio AM 1150 and on TV via NBCSN and post-game show on Prime Ticket).
Schultz has not played with the Kings since the preseason but was recalled last week. This season he recorded 13 points (2-11=13) and a plus-10 rating in 67 games with the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.
A veteran of 399 regular season games and 28 playoff games in the NHL – all with Washington -- the 29-year-old’s best NHL season came in 2009-10 when he posted 23 points (3-20=23) and a plus-50 rating in 73 games for the Capitals.
If Schultz plays, he will become just the fourth player to make their Kings debut in the playoffs, joining Tanner Pearson, Brock Tredway and Mike Corbett. Tredway and Corbett never played a regular season game for the Kings and Pearson made his regular season debut this year. Tredway in fact never played in an NHL regular season contest during his career, nor did Corbett who played in two Kings playoff games in 1968.
