LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have activated defensemen Alec Martinez off the injured reserve list and have assigned him to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Martinez, 22, has played in one game for the Kings this season – his NHL debut on Oct. 3. He suffered an ankle injury during practice two days later and was placed on the injured reserve list Oct. 29 (retroactive to Oct. 5).

The 6-1, 208-pound native of Rochester Hills, Mich. recorded 23 points (8-15=23) and 42 penalty minutes in 72 games with Manchester last season. He was tied for first among Monarchs rookie defensemen in goals, assists and points. His 23 points was also 14th among AHL blue-liners.

The Kings return to action Saturday at STAPLES Center for a 1 p.m. contest against the Calgary Flames. The game will be broadcast on FS West, KTLK AM 1150 and along the Kings Radio Network.
