Things were not going well for the LA Kings heading into last week.
They had lost three straight games and were beginning somewhat of an extended road trip (with one home game sprinkled in after the All-Star Game).
So, naturally, the week didn't start as planned.
But after a dominating but losing effort against the NY Rangers, the Kings rebounded with two big wins against the New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes. Plus, Drew Doughty and Jeff Carter put on a pretty great show at the 2017 NHL All-Star Game.
5) Trevor Lewis with the Ultimate Trevor Lewis Goal
Lewis, the 47-time LA Kings "Unsung Hero" Award-winner, scored his seventh goal of the year. That's two off his career high with 30 games to go!
Best hockey stop in the league.
4) Marian Gaborik Knows Patience is a Virtue
As a person grows older, he or she begins to understand that the first opportunity isn't necessarily the best opportunity.
Poor Cam Ward and his .906 save percentage.
3) Anze Kopitar Kickstarts the Offense
In the 3-2 loss against the Rangers, the Kings had 80(!) shot attempts. It was frustrating and horrible and generally not fun to watch them not score all game.
So, the next night in New Jersey, Kopitar decided to take matters into his own hands early in the game.
"Oh you're damn right I'm shooting this thing." - Kopitar, 50 seconds into the game
2) Drew Doughty and Jeff Carter: Hometown Heroes
The duo gave the STAPLES Center crowd plenty to cheer about during All-Star Weekend, including these two beautiful goals during Sunday's game.
All three Chicago Blackhawks accepted the fact that there was no way to stop Carter.
Hi again, Duncan Keith and Corey Crawford!
1) Peter Budaj with a Devil of a Save
That four-game losing streak wasn't snapped just because of the Kings offense.
The Kings-near-and-should-have-been-All-Star made a plethora of big saves in the two wins. Including this beauty late in New Jersey.
"That save was good.
...If it's OK with you guys I'm just gonna lie here for a minute." - Budaj
