On Wednesday, February 6, the LA Kings teamed up with Enrich LA and Blue Shield of California to build an entirely edible garden at Queen Anne Place Elementary School.
Enrich LA is a community wellness non-profit organization that builds edible gardens for youth and families.
Focusing on low-income neighborhoods in Los Angeles, Enrich LA hopes to teach students the benefits cultivating and eating simple, home-grown foods.
Close to 20 Kings staff members were at the school to build and install the edible garden, which consisted of six garden beds and a fully functioning drip irrigation system.
The staff also built benches to surround the garden so that students could tend to the plants and enjoy their free time outside.
Queen Anne Place Elementary now has a fully functioning edible garden that will provide healthy food for many years to come!
This may the first garden build that the Kings have participated in this year, but it will definitely not be the last, with many more planned in the coming months.
