LA-Kings-Moms-Tell-All

During the recent LA Kings Moms Trip, we took advantage of the time we had together to learn more about their sons. And let us tell you, it did not disappoint.
Below are the best answers:

Best Nickname: Pickles. Austin Wagner was named Pickles by his family as a kid because he loved eating them. If that's what allows him to skate at the speed of lightning, then we are going be stocking up immediately.
Runner up in this category: Jonny Pie. Because Jonny Brodzinski didn't quite have the same ring.
Favorite Pregame Meal: Pasta, pasta, pasta.
For Sean Walker and Wagner, the preferred meal of choice was chicken and pasta. For Brendan Leipsic, it was pasta topped with a nice rose sauce.

But our favorite pregame meal answer came from Mary Forbort. "Whatever was on the menu was what they were eating," she said. Boss mom.
Tough Love Story: Brodzinski was once driving home from a game with his dad, and was persistently doing something his dad asked him not to, so his dad told him to get out of the car and walk home.
What Brodzinski's dad knew, but Jonny didn't, was that his grandparents were driving behind them and could give him a ride home. But a good scare never hurt anybody, right?
A similar situation happened with the Forborts. Derek is always the last one out of the locker room (by a while) so one day his dad said, "you better be out on time today since we're driving your two teammates home."
As you may have guessed, Derek wasn't out of the lockerroom on time, so his dad took his two teammates to the corner store to get treats before coming back to get Derek. TBD on whether or not he learned the lesson.
Best Hockey Memory: In youth hockey, Leipsic was doing group drills and was too advanced for his group, so he was moved up to a different group. Then, later in the day, he got moved once again to another more advanced group. At the end of the day when his mom asked how his time at the rink was, he replied "Mom, I got traded twice today!"
Best Reaction During Games: Goalie moms have a tough job... they have to see their sons face countless shots and they're always on the ice, which can be stressful.
But Jonathan Quick's mom Lisa goes one step further by making reactive kick saves when the puck goes near the Kings goal. PSA: do not sit near her!

Best Mom Advice: When Facetime was first released, Derek Forbort told his mom how to download and set up the app. She thought, "how sweet, my son wants to see my face and chat with me." Wrong.
She soon learned the real reason for his call - he wanted her to show him how to separate his darks and lights for laundry day. Womp womp.
Most Superstitious Mom: Barb Iafallo is not only a fan of her kids' hockey teams, but she was also a big hockey fan before they were born. So, it's only fitting she's a little superstitous, and she always enforces the rule that everyone has to sit in the same seats.
She travels to see Alex on the road once a month, but her favorite arena to take in games is still STAPLES Center.

Most Lovable Habit: Brendan Leipsic and his mom, Kathleen, stay in touch like every other family: by discussing quality television content, such as The Bachelor.
The two text back and forth on Monday nights, and luckily, during the Moms' Trip, they were able to catch a show together!
