The LA Kings know what it takes to win a championship.
And they definitely know how difficult it is to win and stay on top.
So I guess it should be no surprise which team a majority of the Kings are picking to win the Super Bowl.
New England Patriots vs Atlanta Falcons
*In his heart of hearts, Jeff Carter knows rooting for the Falcons is a fool's errand.
The All-Star center said he wants the Atlanta Falcons to win the Super Bowl for the first time in their franchise history.
Carter, however, like nearly every member of the Kings, said he expects that it'll be the New England Patriots raising the Vince Lombardi Trophy on Sunday night.
From sports cliches to sound reasoning, there are a plethora of reasons to pick New England in this year's Super Bowl.
The Patriots have been there before (four Super Bowl wins since 2001), they went 14-2 this season to finish with the best record in the NFL, and they are 3-point favorites in Sunday's game.
I'm sure these reasons and more are why members of the Kings are picking them to win.
"Tom Brady is my man crush," Kyle Clifford said.
It turns out that professional hockey players act just like we all do on Twitter.
Devin Setoguchi's face lit up like a kid in a candy store when he was asked to talk about the Patriots.
"I've got a blanket, a t-shirt, [Stephen] Gostkowski's jersey ... Tom Brady is the man," Setoguchi added.
I don't think any Kings fan loves the Kings as much as Setoguchi loves the Patriots.
Of course, it wasn't a consensus opinion.
Beyond Carter's wing and a prayer hopes for the Falcons, there were a few other dissenters on the Kings.
"Definitey not New England," Peter Budaj said.
It makes sense that the revitalized Kings goaltender would prefer an underdog story over rooting for the "Evil Empire" dynasty.
This year's Super Bowl has even left a house divided.
While Head Coach Darryl Sutter said he wants the Patriots to win, his son Chris wasn't on board with that pick.
"That doesn't surprise me," the elder Sutter said with a smile when he found out Chris was rooting for the Falcons.
Picking a Super Bowl winner has become something that everyone does.
A simple "Patriots" or "Falcons" answer when asked who you think will win is the topic of conversation among family, friends and coworkers alike.
Picking a winner is even the perfect ice breaker when meeting someone for the first time.
There's no real need to have an in-depth conversation behind making your selection. Whether it's a love for one team, hatred for another, or an arbritrary reason like "they have cool jerseys" is enough to justify your selection.
But there's always that one person you meet who just has to be different.
This person doesn't want to be part of the conversation, or at least he or she doesn't want to make that conversation a simple one.
"I don't care," Alec Martinez said.
Not an ideal answer, but we all know people who don't care which team will win the Super B--
"...Detroit Lions," Martinez added about five seconds later.
Never change, Alec Martinez. Never change.
