We're four games into the season and the Kings just snagged their first win against the Colorado Avalanche.

With two overtime losses and a win, giving the Kings four points on the year, the hot start from Andreas Athanasiou and Jeff Carter, and red-hot penalty kill, there's a lot to be happy with.
Just before the calendar flipped to 2021, Andreas Athanasiou signed a one-year deal with the Kings. Reports in training camp had high praise for the Woodbridge, Ontario native from both his teammates and coaches.
"He's comfortable in the locker room and comfortable around the veteran players. [Andreas] has good legs, he's fast, nice hands and fits our group well," McLellan said following Athanasiou's first day on the ice with the Kings in training camp.
Thus far, Athanasiou leads the Kings in goals with three and is third on the team in points.

Another bright spot for the Kings early in the season is the healthy and rejuvenated Jeff Carter. Ranked second on the team for most points with five, Carter has emerged from the pack as a standout yet again in a Kings uniform.
"Carter was able to come into training camp healthy and I think the extended pandemic layoff certainly helped him with his surgery last year and recovery over the summer. He still a very committed athlete and worked really hard on his body conditioning. The speed factor speed factor with [Carter] and [Andreas Athanasiou] has been effective on both ends of the rink," McLellan said.
Even his linemate Athanasiou noticed the speed from the 36-year-old veteran filling the Kings season opener.
"[Jeff Carter] has been playing unbelievable. Even in practice you can see has another gear. He's got a lot of sleep I just try to keep up with him.... He's moving like he's in his first couple years in the league. He was really good for us tonight," Athanasiou said.

The Kings have also gotten off to an impressive start on the penalty kill, picking right up where they left off last season. Through their first three games, the Kings killed off 15-17 penalties, good for 88% and top 10 in the NHL.
