The LA Kings have placed defenseman Matt Greene on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 20, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
The 6-3, 236-pound native of Grand Ledge, Mich. has appeared in 26 games this season with the Kings, recording two points (1-1=2), a plus-3 rating and 19 penalty minutes. He missed the last four games due to an undisclosed injury.
Greene has played in 615 career NHL games with Edmonton and Los Angeles, collecting 80 points (17-63=80) and 663 penalty minutes. Earlier this season, Greene moved into the top 10 among Kings defenseman in games played for the organization, appearing in his 443rd game, Nov. 3 vs. PIT and currently sits in ninth now in that category.
