LA Kings Announce 2022 Rookie Faceoff Roster

The LA Kings today named its roster for the 2022 Rookie Faceoff that will take place from Sept. 16-19 at Tech CU Arena and Sharks Ice in San Jose. The 28-player roster, which features 17 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders, can be found

Leading the Kings contingent are a trio of players with NHL experience, including forwards Quinton Byfield(2nd overall, 2020) and Alex Turcotte (5th overall, 2019) as well as defenseman Jordan Spence (95th overall, 2019). Additionally, three first-round selections will skate for the Kings as Byfield and Turcotte will be joined by defenseman Brandt Clarke(8th overall, 2021). The Kings will also have two members from its 2022 NHL Draft class participating in defenseman Angus Booth (116th overall) and forward Kaleb Lawrence (215th overall).

In total, 14 skaters on the Kings roster suited up for all or parts of last season with the Ontario Reign, including forwards Byfield, Samuel Helenius (59th overall, 2021), Brett Kemp, Andre Lee (188th overall, 2019), Tyler Madden (68th overall, 2018 (From VAN), Akil Thomas (51st overall, 2019), Turcotte, Taylor Ward; defensemen Helge Grans (35th overall, 2020), Tyler Inamoto, Kim Nousiainen (119th overall, 2019), and Spence; and goaltenders David Hrenak (144th overall, 2019) and Jacob Ingham (175th overall, 2018).
The annual rookie tournament is a four-day event where six NHL clubs send their top prospects to compete against one another. In addition to the Kings, three teams from the Pacific Division (Anaheim, San Jose and Vegas) and two from the Central Division (Arizona and Colorado) will be participating.
The tournament will consist of nine games with each team playing three times. The Kings schedule is as follows:
Friday, September 16 vs. Colorado at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 17 vs. Vegas at 2:00 p.m.
Monday, September 19 vs. San Jose at 3:00 p.m.
