The LA Kings have announced that Ilya Kovalchuk has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 29 and will be out approximately four weeks while recovering from an ankle bursectomy procedure.
Kovalchuk ranks third on the Kings in points (5-9=14).

The 35-year-old (born April 15, 1983) is a 6-3, 230-pound native of Tver, Russia, was the first overall selection of the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
He signed a 3-year, $18.75 million contract on July 1.

The Kings continue their four-game homestand on Tuesday as they take on the Arizona Coyotes at 7:30 pm. The Kings will honor Lubomir Visnovsky as part of their Legends Night series presented by McDonald's.
