: The Kings kicked off their week with a three-game road trip through Western Canada. On Monday night, the Kings fell 2-1 to the Calgary Flames. On Tuesday, the Kings faltered in Edmonton, losing 3-2 in a shootout to the Oilers. The Kings capped off their trip with a win Thursday night in Vancouver, when Jarret Stoll
rifled home the game-winning goal with 1:14 to play. In their return to STAPLES Center Saturday afternoon, the Kings fell to the Nashville Predators 7-6 in OT after overcoming a three-goal deficit in the final minutes of play.
WHO WAS HOT: Anze Kopitar led all players in points scored with four assists; Dwight King led all players in goals scored with three. Alec Martinez (1G, 2A), Jake Muzzin, (1G, 2A), and Dustin Brown (3A) each registered three points during the week.
TENDER SPOT: Jonathan Quick started all four games played this past week, but was pulled for Martin Jones in Saturday’s 7-6 loss to the Nashville Predators after allowing three goals on the first nine shots he faced. In his four starts, Quick posted a 1-1-1 mark, stopping 52 of the 61 shots he faced.
GIF OF THE WEEK: As Jim Fox prepared to interview assistant coach Davis Payne early in the second period Thursday night in Vancouver, head coach Darryl Sutter took the opportunity to subtly troll the Fox Sports West broadcast. Either that, or he was pacing to keep warm.
GOAL(S) OF THE WEEK:
The Kings found some late-game offensive magic during the week. First, Jarret Stoll buried the game-winning goal with 1:14 to play Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks, securing a 3-2 win for the Kings
Then, on Saturday afternoon, the Kings scored three goals in a 1:27 minute span to overcome a three-goal deficit in the final three minutes of regulation. Jeff Carter slammed home the game-tying goal with 33.3 seconds left in the third period to extend the game to overtime.
