Kings To Host Watch Party Wednesday

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings
Ian Turnbull

Join Ian Turnbull at "Socal’s Home of Hockey," the Redondo Beach Café to watch the Los Angeles Kings take on the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 25, 2009 at 6:30pm.

In addition, starting Nov. 25, Turnbull’s jersey will be permanently displayed at the Redondo Beach Café. Kings’ fans are invited to the Redondo Beach Cafe on Wednesday, Nov. 25, as Turnbull will also have a special dessert item named in his honor, the “5 Goal Turnbull,” a large brownie topped with ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and Oreo crumbs. Five items for each of his sweet record-setting goals!

Turnbull tallied five times on Feb. 2, 1977 in a 9-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings, a feat that has been acoomplished just 59 times in NHL History. Turnbull owns the Kings record for most goals in a game by a defenseman with four, on Dec. 12 1981 vs. Vancouver, which is also tied with 12 others for the most in Kings history.

Turnbull played one season in LA, scoring 11-15=26 in 42 games in 1981-82. For his career, Turnbull scored 123-317=440 in 628 games with the Maple Leafs, Kings and Penguins from 1974-83.

Turnbull will be on hand as will the LA Kings Ice Crew, Bailey and various Kings alumni to take part in a brief ceremony prior to the Kings vs. Oilers game at 6:30 p.m. With the game not televised by the Kings, Redondo Beach Cafe will be showing the Oilers TV feed. Hockey fans are invited to attend and root on their favorite team. Ian, his wife Inga and family have been regulars at the Redondo Beach Café. Turnbull on many occasions has enjoyed the Montreal Smoked Meat and Poutine at the hockey haven. Now he can top of his meal with his own dessert!

Prior to enjoying the 5 Goal Turnbull, order Foxy's Chicken Soup, mamed in honor of Jim Fox, as a starter, before devouring a Lucky Luc's Original foot long as the main course, the perfect meal for any Kings fan.

Located by the picturesque shores of the Riviera Village in Redondo Beach, this family owned restaurant serves breakfast all day, award-winning authentic Greek, All-American & Health / Fitness choices.
