Kings to Honor Kelly Hrudey on Saturday

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings will honor long-time fan-favorite Kelly Hrudey on Saturday as part of this year’s Kings Legends Night Series presented by McDonald’s. As part of the event, Hrudey will be featured in a special pre-game ceremony before the Kings-Calgary Flames contest at STAPLES Center beginning at 7 p.m.

In addition, all fans in attendance will receive special Kelly Hrudey-style bandanas.

Hrudey played 15 seasons in the NHL with the Kings, Islanders and Sharks, and eight of those seasons were spent in Los Angeles. Hrudey was 271-265-88 with a 3.43 goals-against average, .893 save percentage and 17 shutouts in 677 career regular season NHL appearances. He also appeared in 85 career playoff games.

With the Kings, Hrudey was 145-135-62 with a 3.47 goals-against average, .896 save percentage and 10 shutouts in 360 regular season appearances. He also appeared in 57 playoff games with the Kings.

Voted Kings MVP twice (1991-92 and 1994-95)

Voted Kings Most Popular Player in 1994-95

Voted Kings Most Inspirational Player in 1994-95

Voted Kings Unsung Hero in 1993-94

This is the second and final Legends Night presented by McDonald’s this season. The Kings honored Ian Laperriere on Feb. 23.

The Kings (winners of seven of their last eight games) will also this Saturday be wearing their Vintage Purple and Gold Jerseys for the second and final time this season.
