LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have signed unrestricted free agent forward Matt Moulson to an multi-year entry-level contact, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
Moulson, 22, this past season concluded his four-year career at Cornell University by leading his club in goals (18) and points (38) for a third consecutive season. The 6-1, 210-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario, also led his team with 11 power play goals and four game-winning goals while recording 14 penalty minutes in 35 games played.
Originally selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth-round (263rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Moulson averaged nearly 18 goals per season during his collegiate career and finished with 71 goals, 33 power play goals, 138 points (71-67=138) and 106 penalty minutes in 134 career games.
Moulson is expected to first skate with the Kings at the annual "Pacific Division Shootout" -- featuring prospects from the Kings, Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks and Phoenix Coyotes with the Kings serving as host at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. The four-team round-robin tournament takes place from September 8-12 and tickets are on sale now.
Tickets cost $10 each (one ticket allows entry for both games that day) and are limited to four per person on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets can be purchased at the Toyota Sports Center box office, which is located on the second floor of the facility.
