Kings seek third straight win as St. Louis visits

by Alex Kinkopf / Los Angeles Kings

BLUES (1-1-0) at KINGS (2-1-1)

IN FROM ST. LOUIS: This is the first of three meetings with the Blues this season. St. Louis hasn’t played in four days after starting their season with a win and a loss on home ice. The Blues fell 3-2 to the New York Rangers in their season opener, and then beat the Calgary Flames 4-1 Saturday night. After tonight, the Kings will see St. Louis for back-to-back home-and-home games on December 16 and 18.

LINEUP NOTES: Jonathan Quick will be back in net, and Mike Richards is expected to once again skate on the first line alongside Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams. Trevor Lewis, who was officially placed in Injured Reserve Tuesday, will be out of the lineup, along with Marian Gaborik and Jake Muzzin who are sidelined on a day-to-day basis. Andy Andreoff will play in his second career NHL game tonight on the Kings’ fourth line.

THE LAST TIME AROUND: In three meetings with the Blues last season, the Kings went 2-1-0, winning the won game played at STAPLES Center, and splitting the pair played at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The Kings have won seven of their past eight regular season games against the Blues, dating back to October of 2011. Tyler Toffoli, who had a goal and assist Tuesday night, scored two goals – including the game-winner in the Kings’ 3-2 win against St. Louis on December 2 of last season.

70’S STYLE: The Kings come into tonight sporting one of the hottest line combinations in the league. Tanner Pearson, Jeff Carter and Tanner Pearson combined for seven points (4G, 3A) Tuesday night against Edmonton, and have allotted for a total of 16 points (9G, 7A) in the Kings’ previous three games. Can the trio strike against St. Louis tonight?
