by Alex Kinkopf / Los Angeles Kings

A stellar week for the Kings in toppling four of the NHL’s best has seen Jonathan Quick earn the league’s second star while setting a new record, a four-point lead in the Pacific Division maintained over the Anaheim Ducks, and the club’s points streak (6-0-1) extended to six games.

And now, the top spot in ESPN’s power rankings.

From ESPN:

“The Kings extended their points streak to seven games (6-0-1), have won four in a row and have a four-point lead over the Ducks for first in the Pacific. Jonathan Quick is 5-0-1 in his past six starts, including three consecutive wins. Forward Anze Kopitar extended his points streak to five games with four goals and three assists. This team is a serious Cup contender.”

The Kings moved up seven spots, they were ranked #8 at the end of last week.

Oh, and don’t you forget, the network’s very own Barry Melrose picked the Kings to win the Stanley Cup at the start of the season.
