LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled defenseman Alec Martinez
from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL) and placed defenseman Randy Jones on the injured reserve list (retroactive to Dec. 16), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Martinez, 22, has played in two games with the Kings this season, his first in the NHL. The 6-1, 208-pound native of Rochester Hills, Michigan, has also played in 19 games with Manchester this season, recording eight points (3-5=8), six penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating.
Jones, 28, suffered an upper body injury during the Kings-Oilers game on Dec. 15. The 6-2, 200-pound native of Quispamsis, New Brunswick has recorded 12 points (4-8=12) and 12 penalty minutes in 18 games this season.
The Kings, winners of three straight games, open a season-long seven-game homestand Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings, with game-time from STAPLES Center set for 7:30 p.m. The game will air on FS West, KTLK AM 1150 and along the Kings Radio Network.
