by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled forward John Zeiler from the Ontario Reign of the ECHL, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Zeiler, 28, has played in 22 games for the Manchester Monarchs this season (AHL), posting five points (all assists) and 46 penalty minutes. He will wear No. 29 with the Kings

Last season, the 5-11, 204-pound native of Jefferson Hills, Pa. recorded 20 points (11-9=20) and 31 penalty minutes in 65 regular season games with Manchester. He also had seven points (4-3=7) and four penalty minutes in 16 playoff games, helping the Monarchs advance to the AHL’s Eastern Conference Finals

Zeiler has spent parts of three seasons with the Kings (2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09). In 86 career NHL games (all with the Kings) he has five points (1-4=5) and 87 penalty minutes. Zeiler was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on Feb. 17, 2007. He was originally selected by Phoenix in the fifth round (132nd overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The Kings (13-9-0) play in Anaheim tonight in this season’s first Freeway Faceoff contest. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised on FS West with Bob Miller and Jim Fox calling the action and Heidi Androl and Patrick O’Neal serving as sideline reporters. The game will also be aired on KTLK 1150 and along the Kings Radio Network.

The Kings will open a four-game homestand at STAPLES Center Thursday against Florida.
