Reading, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that right wing Greg Hogeboom ("HOE geh boom") has been selected to represent the Royals at the 2007 RBK Hockey ECHL All-Star Game and Skills Competition to be held at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho. The 10th Annual Skills Competition is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, at 9:00 pm (est) (7:00 pm, MT), while the 15th Annual All-Star Game will be held on Wednesday, January 17, at 9:00 pm (est) (7:00 pm, MT).
This marks the second consecutive ECHL All-Star selection for Hogeboom (24) (6'0"/204 lbs), who was unable to play in last season's game because he had been re-assigned to Manchester. A fifth round pick of the Kings in 2002 from Etobicoke, Ontario, Hogeboom currently leads the Royals with 36 points (14g – 22a = 36pts) in twenty-four games, which places him fifth amongst the ECHL's overall scoring leaders. Hogeboom, a third year pro who had a stellar four year career at Miami University (Ohio), is currently riding a team season high eight game point streak (5g – 10a = 15pts). Last Friday night in a 6-3 win over the Wheeling Nailers, Hogeboom scored his league leading fifth short-handed goal–three of which have been game winners–which also tied a team record set last season by Chris Bala. Over the past two seasons in 43 ECHL games with the Royals, Hogeboom has racked up a total of 63 points (23g – 40a = 63 pts).
