ERSBERG STOPS MARLEAU
Goaltender Erik Ersberg protects a 2-1 lead over San Jose by stopping Patrick Marleau's slapper. Ersberg initially stopped the puck, only to have it bounce off his pads and toward the King net where he reaches back with his blocker, stick side, and keeps the puck out of the net. Ersberg, however, would leave the game with a groin strain and the Sharks would prevail in the shootout, 3-2.
BROWN'S DEFLECTION TIES RANGERS
With the Rangers holding a 2-1 lead, Dustin Brown charged the net and created traffic in front as the Kings attacked the net. After the Ranger defense failed to clear the puck out of the zone, defenseman Sean O'Donnell put a shot on net that was deflected by the tough Kings forward and into the net to tie the score at two.
QUICK STOPS IT; GAUTHIER SLAPS IT
In an otherwise forgettable game in Buffalo, Jochen Hecht put a shot on net that rookie Jonathan Quick initially saved. The puck sailed high over Quick's head and toward the King net but defenseman Denis Gauthier slapped the puck out of mid air and into the boards to prevent a scoring chance for the Sabres.
FROLOV SKATES THROUGH THE RED WINGS D
Alexander Frolov has always been known for his puck control. On this entertaining goal, Frolov skates through all five Red Wings and then beats netminder Ty Conklin for an easy tap in goal after skating through the slot from faceoff circle to faceoff circle.
BROWN AND STOLL GIVE KINGS A 4-3 LEAD
In a wild game, Jarret Stoll out-races a Detroit defender and finds Dustin Brown open in the crease, threading a perfect tape-to-tape pass to Brown for an easy goal and a 4-3 Kings lead.
