The Los Angeles Kings have confirmed media reports on Tom Preissing being placed on waivers, a source told

Preissing was activated from injured reserve prior to Sunday’s game at Chicago after he missed the previous 13 games due to an undisclosed upper-body injury.

Preissing has posted 3-4=7 in 22 games this season, last appearing with the Kings on Jan. 15, a 4-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. Preissing signed with Los Angeles on July 2, 2007, and has appeared in 99 games with the Kings, scoring 11-20=31 with a minus-13 rating.

The 6-0, 197-pound defenseman has also played for the San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators, tallying 31-100=131 in 322 games since being signed as an undrafted free agent on April 4, 2003 by the San Jose Sharks.

Preissing set a career high with 11-32=43 in 2005-06 with the Sharks while also setting a career high the following year with a plus-40 rating in helping the Ottawa Senators to the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals.

Preissing has two years remaining on his contract.
