Kings opening night presented by McDonald’s at Staples Center

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings will open their 2013-14 regular season home schedule this Monday at STAPLES Center against the New York Rangers. 


The evening begins at 4:30 pm with a Pre-Game Fan Fest outside STAPLES Center.  The event will feature the Bud Light Beer Garden, Coca Cola Zero sampling canopy with inflatable penalty shot, the Alberta, Canada snowboard simulator, the FOX Sports 1 Fan Express, California Lottery, Ferrara Candy Company and Toyota’s Autograph Session with Sean O’Donnell.

The Kings will debut two new pre-game videos on the STAPLES Center Panasonic LIVE 4HD Scoreboard, including one that feature’s the club’s new anthem song. 

The Kings Care Foundation will unveil two season-long initiatives during the 2013-2014 season.  Puck-A-Month, a cause-based, limited-edition and collectible puck series will give fans the chance to participate in a mystery drawing for autographed pucks. To kick off the series, the Kings Care Foundation will sell Hockey Fights Cancer Pucks starting Monday night. In addition, the Kings Care Foundation is introducing a season-long raffle with drawings taking place during the last home game of every month and again on April 12 for the grand prize. The game -- as is every Kings home game during the 2013-14 season -- is expected to sell out.  Fans can secure tickets to the game with a purchase of a Kings 10-game or half season ticket plan.  Visit or call 1.888.KINGS.LA for all ticket information.  Monday will mark the club’s 69th consecutive sellout (playoffs and regular season) at STAPLES Center.

In addition, STAPLES Center has made the following upgrades, including several fan experience enhancements:

Verizon Wi-Fi -- STAPLES Center Wi-Fi powered by Verizon is available throughout the arena giving fans the opportunity to send pictures and post to social media sites from their wireless device. It is fast and free for all Kings fans. Fans can simply connect by turning on their Wi-Fi on their mobile device and selecting the “Verizon Wi-Fi” from the list of available networks.

HD Television Upgrade -- All 1,400 Panasonic televisions located throughout STAPLES Center on the Event Level, Main & Upper Concourses, and Suite Levels and inside all of the suites have been upgraded to full HD capability.

LudoBird Concession Stand -- Culinary pioneer Chef Ludo Lefebvre partners with STAPLES Center to open Ludo Bird, the arena’s first chef-owned food stand, bringing new taste to the acclaimed LA venue. Following the soft opening this past week at the Depeche Mode concert, Ludo Bird will celebrate their grand opening on Monday night.
Located in the Main Concourse across from Section 119, the Ludo Bird menu will feature Chef Ludo’s famous Buttermilk Provencal Fried Chicken alongside other dishes such as Honey Garlic Glazed Wings, Fried Chicken Sandwich and Popcorn Chicken. Patrons can choose from a variety of sauces to complement their bird, including Béarnaise, Piquillo Pepper and Ludo Bird Special Sauce. Featured sides are Ludo Slaw, Honey Lavender Biscuits, Potato Salad and House Made Ludo Chips, with a Sweet and Salty Ice Cream Sandwich for dessert.

Black Crown Lounge -- Located across from Section 118 on the Main Concourse the Black Crown Lounge will offer a made to order burger menu with a variety of selections for fans to choose from.

San Manuel Club & Premier Lounges and Tables -- The San Manuel Club, STAPLES Center’s exclusive restaurant and bar created to accommodate Private Suite and Premier Seat Owners and their guests, is currently undergoing a re-design and transformation.  Beginning this fall, San Manuel and STAPLES Center are proud to introduce the new premier experience in sports and entertainment with the launch of the Premier Lounges and Tables at San Manuel Club.  The former “view tables” in the San Manuel Club have now been upgraded to two distinct seating options.  The new Premier Tables, seven unique and exclusive spaces featuring plush “living room style” chairs that accommodate four guests in a spacious and semi-private first class environment.  The Premier Lounges are 18 private “mini-suites” that each accommodates four guests in a stylish and contemporary atmosphere.  Both options include tickets to all Kings, Lakers and Clippers regular season and playoff games.  The price includes an upscale Chef’s Table buffet including beer, wine, and soda for all games, preferred access to concerts and special events, parking, personal television, convenient charging stations, and invitations to private events hosted by STAPLES Center’s Premium Seating Department.

Media Upgrades -- Over the summer the Chick Hearn Press Room and work room had some upgrades of its own take place. The room is now outfitted with brand new flat panel Panasonic HD televisions throughout that include a new feature wall with five Panasonic flat panel televisions installed on the south end of the room where media and team personnel can watch all major sporting events on one wall. The Chick Hearn Press Room also has new paint and new carpet (being installed by October 15) and new frames and updated prints have been installed throughout the room. The digital dark room space has been become a large working space with new flooring, paint and new desks that will be in place by the end of October.

The Kings are currently on the road having won their season opener last night in Minnesota in a shoot-out.  They play at Winnipeg tonight at 5 p.m. (PT) with the game set to be broadcast on FOX Sports West and AM 1150.
