by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings have officially qualified for the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Kings earned their postseason berth tonight after the club defeated the Boston Bruins, 2-1, at STAPLES Center and by way of the results of tonight’s Arizona Coyotes-Tampa Bay Lightning game in Glendale (a 2-0 win Tampa Bay).

The first opportunity for Kings fans to buy playoff tickets for 2016 postseason games at STAPLES Center for Round 1 begins in early April, the Kings also announced tonight. Tickets will go on sale to club Season Ticket Members beginning on April 4 (with other presales to follow) and tickets go on sale to the general public beginning on April 7. The Pacific Division-leading Kings play 11 more games during the regular season including five games at STAPLES Center. The club begins a three-game road trip in Nashville on Monday night beginning at 5 p.m. (PT) -- game to be broadcast on FOX Sports West and KABC Radio.

With tonight’s results the Kings have clinched a playoff spot for the 29th time in franchise history and sixth time in the last seven seasons.

Tickets for all games at STAPLES Center are expected to sell out quickly as the Kings have sold out 197 consecutive home games including tonight’s contest.
