LA Kings Draft Day 2 Draft Selections

The Kings then traded up with the Detroit Red Wings (sending the 51st and 97th pick) in order to draft defenseman Brock Faber from the United States Nation Team Development Program. Last season with the U18 team, the 6-0 190-pound native of Maple Grove, Minn. recorded 12 points (3-9=12) in 46 games and a plus-7 rating. The 18-year old is set to go to the University of Minnesota (NCAA) next season.

The Kings acquired forward Lias Andersson from New York Rangers in exchange for the 60th overall pick.
Andersson, a 6-1, 190-pound native of Smogen, Sweden, appeared in 17 games last season with the Rangers, posting one point (0-1=1). He has appeared in 66 games since making his NHL debut during the 2017-18 season, posting nine points (3-6=9).
Originally a seventh overall pick by the Rangers in the 2017 NHL Draft, Andersson is currently on loan to HV71 (SHL). He appeared in 15 games at the end of last season, posting 12 points (7-5=12). So far this season with HV71, he has four points (1-3=4) in four games. Prior to his loan to Sweden, the 21-year old appeared in 74 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, posting 39 points (15-24=39).

At the beginning of the third round, the Kings selected forward Kasper Simontaival who played in the Finnish league last season.
He appeared in 48 games with Tappara Jr., posting 57 points (25-32=57) and a plus-11 rating in 48 games last season. He also played in four games with the Tappara's top team, going scoreless. So far this

With their second pick of the third round the Kings selected forward Alex Laferriere is a 6-0, 175-pound native of Chatham, N.J. who played in 42 games last season with Des Moines (USHL) where he posted 45 points (19-26=45).

In the fourth round the Kings took Juho Markkanen, a goaltender who played in the junior league in Finland. The 6-2, 150-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta appeared in 18 games with Saipa Jr.

The Kings selected forward Martin Chromiak from the Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) in the fifth round (128th overall). The 18-year old from Ilava, Slovakia registered 33 points (11-22=33) in 28 games at the end of last season with Kingston. The 6-0, 190-pound winger represented Slovakia in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2019, recording three points (2-1=2) in seven games.

LA traded up to the middle of the fifth round (sending the 159th selection this year and a 7th round selection in the 2021 NHL Draft) to select 19-year old defenseman Ben Meehan. The Boston, Mass. native appeared in 25 games last season with Cedar Rapids (USHL), posting 18 points (8-10=18). The 6-0, 180-pound blueliner is set to play this season at University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

The Kings rounded out their draft with the selection of Aatu Jamsen in the seventh round (190th overall). The 6-1, 160-pound forward posted 47 points (21-26=47) with the U18 team for the Pelicans in Finland (U18 SM-sarja). So far this season, he has notched 20 points (5-15=20) in nine games with the Pelicans U20 (U20-SM-sarja).
