EL SEGUNDO, CA - Peter Mueller scored the lone goal as the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Los Angeles Kings 1-0 in Game 3 of the championship series to decide the winner of the Fourth Annual Pacific Division Shootout.
Game 2 of the championship series also took place on Tuesday night and it featured two goals from Kings prospect Matt Moulson in a 4-3 Kings victory. Anze Kopitar
and Ned Lukacevic also added goals for the Kings, who led 3-0 and then held off the Coyotes in the third period. Lukacevic's goal came short-handed on a breakaway in the second period. The other two Kings goals were scored with a power play advantage. Olivier Latendresse, Liam Lindstrom, and Ryan Garlock had goals for the Coyotes.
Kings goaltender Jonathan Bernier
had 15 saves in 60 minutes of work in Game 2. He also had one save in Game 3, a mini-game that lasted 10-minutes. Josh Tordjman of Phoenix had 31 saves in Game 2 and another five stops in Game 3.
The Kings finished with a record of 3-2-0 and claimed second place in the tournament for the fourth year in a row. The Coyotes finished with a 4-1-0 record in the tournament and claimed the championship for the second time in four years.
