The Los Angeles Kings hosted the 10th Annual Bud Light Golf Tournament on Sept. 10, 2009 at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort in Industry Hills. Kings players and alumni were on hand to golf with corporate sponsors and fans while raising over $100,000 for the Kings Care Foundation, the team’s award-winning non-profit organization.
The day began with breakfast and a putting contest where winner Keith Hobbs of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles was awarded an exotic wood LA Kings putter from Sweetwood Golf.
Participants hit the resort’s Eisenhower course immediately following a mid-morning shotgun start. Golfers encountered various contests throughout the day including a Hole in One to win a 2009 Toyota Highlander, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and many more. On hole contests gave golfers the opportunity to win an array of prizes donated by generous sponsors including Starbucks, Lucky Strike, New Zealand Natural Ice Cream, Popcornopolis, Cleveland Golf, Toyota, Tiger Woods Foundation, Team LA, Grand Havana, ESPN Zone and San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino
As the day on the links came to an end, golfers were treated to the ultimate Kings "Sports Lounge" featuring arcade games, massages, silent auction, "Feast for a King" dinner and awards ceremony. Attendees also had the opportunity to take part in an exclusive live auction featuring the opportunity to take Kings Mascot, Bailey, to school, have your photo taken with the entire team and the opportunity to take part in a wine tasting hosted by Kings Television Color Commentator Jim Fox.
All proceeds raised from the tournament will go toward to the newly announced $500,000 commitment to the Blood Donor Center at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. The largest donation ever made by the Foundation will serve to increase the much needed collection of life-saving blood for the most seriously ill and injured children at CHLA through the LA Kings Bloodmobile.
