Kings-Ducks Post-Game Wrap-Up

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings

Los Angeles Kings (46-28-8=100pts) vs. Anaheim Ducks(53-20-8=114pts) – Apr. 12, 2014

Attendance: 18,372 (108th straight sellout)

(Re Jennings Award): “I think one of our little goals coming into the season was to get better in that area.”

(Re Anze Kopitar): “He had a really good regular season, he’s played the last little bit like he’s getting ready for the next step.”

(Re playoffs): “It could be Wednesday or Thursday. I told the guys as soon as we know, they’ll know, but a lot of the time we just see it on TV.”

(Re intensity level throughout game): “I think the last couple of games, definitely, our intensity was there, our effort was there and that was obviously our preparation for the playoffs . Tonight, the building was loud too, which was really nice to see and we are going to need that going forward. Now we have a couple of days off to try to recharge and get ready for whenever we are going to start.”

(Re aggressive play): “The penalties we normally took are most likely coming from maybe not moving our feet and being a little tired on the ice and we just have to make sure that does not happen.”

(Re upcoming games): “We have a day off tomorrow and I think getting back into the rink and we will start to really think about it. It is kind of like one of those games that went by quick but also went by slow at the same time.”

(Getting at least one point): “They all knew that they just needed a point. We never talked about it, but you could tell after the game was over that they all knew because they all turned and some of them were high-fiving each other. It’s a pretty good accomplishment for them. Then we said well let’s go win it in the shootout.”

(Knowing your opponent): “Well we get to game plan a day earlier then we would of if we didn’t. We know we got a real worthy opponent. They’ve beaten us two out of the three times this year, and they will be ready to play because they got a lot of young guys that are just excited to be there. I have been in that position, and that’s a tough team to beat.”

(Re potentially facing Kings in playoffs): “You never want to let a team think that they can beat you. This year we have been able to handle them. In the past, we have had a tough time beating them. It’s good to have this last win against them in case we face them in the playoffs.”

(Re facing Dallas in the first round): “There won’t be any easy games. Anybody can beat anybody. It’s going to be a really good matchup. It’s going to be a tough series. It will be good.”
