The Los Angeles Kings – the 2014 Stanley Cup Champions – will hold public tryouts for the 2014-15 Kings Chariot Staff on Wednesday, July 9 from 4-7:30 p.m. at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. Tryouts are open to both men and women with an understanding of the sport of hockey, and will consist of on-ice drills run by Kings Radio Color Commentator and former Kings forward Daryl Evans, as well as off-ice/group interviews with a panel of judges. Those who wish to tryout must register online by July 7 at 12 p.m. by visiting LAKings.com/tryoutchariot.
Check-in on Wednesday will take place from 4-4:30 p.m. Tryouts will begin at 4:40 p.m. with a round of group interviews, testing hockey knowledge and public speaking skills. At 6:30 p.m., those trying out must take the ice for the on-ice portion of the tryouts, where hockey skills and ability will be tested. All tryouts must bring a warm-up suit, skates, gloves, stick, and a helmet with a cage or facemask.
The LA Kings Chariot staff debuted over 18 years ago and is a co-ed interactive group that represents the Kings organization at games and events throughout the community, including charitable functions, hockey development events and promotional events. A main focus of the Chariot Staff is LA Kings Street Knights, a grass-roots street hockey program that teaches children the basic skills of hockey at community-based facilities and schools through the donation of equipment, training sessions, and manuals.
